I received the article regarding “Fighting For Fatherhood” written by Tony Zizza. I read it with great interest. Carnell Smith’s case is being closely watched by myself and my partner AMan who recently issued proceedings in the County Court in Melbourne, Australia for the fraud/deceit committed by his ex-wife.
The issue here in Paternity Fraud after AMan discovered 2 of his 3 children were fathered by other men. This was discovered only last (March 2000) after he paid child support for 3 children for 8 years. His ex-wife left in 1992 taking all 3 children after only 4 years of marriage.
The cost emotionally and financially have been enormous. We are heading towards a federal election here in October this year and we will be pushing hard to try and get political parties to address Paternity Fraud and make it a PUNISHABLE CRIME !!
We can also get some support from the justice system for our case if similar issues/cases of deceit in regard to paternity are proven and acted upon accordingly overseas.We have set a precedence by simply issuing proceedings in the first place here in Australia.
There has been a great deal of media interest here to date surrounding this case, which will not be heard until the end of the year. Comments from other fathers everywhere are greatly appreciated.
We are of course VERY interested in what takes place overseas that can be used as case law for AMan’s up and coming legal fight. We have an excellent civil litigant as our Barrister. Time will tell how things turn out.
